We love sharing love stories here at Kansas Weddings Magazine! Austin and Julia had a perfect Kansas City wedding in 2018. Read below to learn more about them! (And happy 10 years of being together, Austin and Julia!)

How did you and Austin meet?
Austin and I met in high school marching band, but it wasn’t until I moved down the street from him that we started really spending time together away from our friend group. Austin and I went on our first date on December 7, 2008, we were both fifteen and so Austin’s dad drove us to the movie theater where we saw Twilight.

Julia, what made you fall for him?
Austin is the kindest and most loving person I’ve ever known. He brings out the best parts of me and at the end of the day he is my best friend.

How long have you been together?
Nine and a half years

When did Austin propose?
December 7, 2016

How did Austin propose?
Austin took me ice skating at Crown Center for our 8 year dating anniversary. After we were done ice skating we walked over to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree to take a picture and I turned around to see Austin down on one knee.

What was the best part about the wedding, Julia?
Getting to marry my best friend! Pastor Dave came into the bride’s room right before the ceremony to pray with me, I didn’t realize until then that was exactly what I needed. My grandma used to own her own ice cream store and she made three different flavors of ice cream for our wedding, it was so special for me to have her be a part of our wedding day.

What was the best part about the wedding, Austin?
Marrying Julia and having my dad help make our food.

If you could change anything of that day, what would it be, Julia?
It seems silly, but the music for my walk down the aisle didn’t start until I was already almost to Austin, that was really disappointing. I would also have fewer people in the bride’s room getting ready, at one point all of the bridesmaids, flower girls, mothers, and several aunts were all in there right before the ceremony which was really stressful.

If you could change anything of that day, what would it be, Austin?
One of the biggest problems I had was that I didn’t get to walk my mom down the aisle. Our coordinator changed our processional line up at the last minute and had me walk with Pastor Dave instead.

What do you LOVE most about Austin, Julia?
Austin is my person, he is my other half, and he is my best friend. He loves me unconditionally and he’s always patient with me.

What do you LOVE most about Julia, Austin?
She is my best friend, and she is always there for me when I need her.
